MoYou London XL Stamping Plates Preview

Hello readers!  As I briefly mentioned in my post Monday, I've been anxiously waiting for several nail-related packages I've ordered to come in the mail.  I have received the first package: two extra large stamping plates from MoYou London, and I am just obsessed with them!!!

The top plate is Joan The Pro Collection 08, and the bottom plate is Suki Collection 01, a Special Edition plate. Just look at the beautiful sleek packaging...that's artwork in itself!

Joan The Pro plate has 18 separate large floral designs in a 3x6 arrangement.  I am so glad I found these larger images, I have some other plates and with my longer nails the images don't fit the entire nail.  I also picked this plate because I kind of suck at stamping straight, these type of designs don't need to be perfectly aligned, and just because I love flowers :)

Words just can't describe how much I'm in love with the utterly gorgeous Suki Special Edition plate!  The Japanese-themed scene takes up the entire plate and includes a koi fish, tiger, peacock, dragonfly, two owls, several small birds and butterflies, as well as cherry blossoms on branches, bamboo, a Japanese folding fan and several pattered designs. I love that you can stamp varying images on all ten nails but they all still match. There are endless combinations of designs you can come up with depending on which areas of the stamp you use. This is a plate that is definitely hard to get tired of.

Each etched plate is made of stainless steel with a durable plastic base. You can go to the MoYou London site to purchase these plates, I actually got them (and found out about them) on Amazon but when I checked the price difference today they would have each been about $1.50 cheaper directly from MoYou. (Dang it! Oh well next time.)  See these plates in use in the near future!

Morgan Taylor Fame Game

Flash

I have here the beautiful Fame Game by Morgan Taylor, a dense holographic glitter.  I recently used this as an accent nail in this post.  I originally bought this to use as a top coat, but it is so much prettier on its own.  It also didn't go on as evenly as I would like when I tried it as a top coat.  I tried my best to capture the glitzy flashiness of this amazing polish, whose rainbow sparkliness immediately blinded my eyes in the store and I HAD to have it.  But alas, in my pictures the glitter looks mostly silver but I assure you it is all holographic, yay!  The first picture above, which is with flash, shows off the twinkle the best.

I used 3 coats of Fame Game and 1 coat of HK Girl top coat.  I probably could have used a 2nd top coat layer to make it perfectly smooth, because of the density of the glitter it also makes it a bit gritty textured.  I probably could have also done a 4th coat of Fame Game to make it completely opaque, but 1) you could hardly see any VNL in real life, 2) I was lazy, and 3) the sun was setting, had to get those outdoor shots!

Polish Me Silly Stardust Part 2

As I was looking through the pictures on my phone, I totally forgot that I had taken some more Stardust pictures! Post fail lol, check out the original post here.

I've got to stop taking pictures with my phone, I keep forgetting about them and them I have to go through so many more pictures than I intended to.  But, I have to say they kinda turned out better than the ones I took with my actual camera. Camera fail? :S  Or maybe phone win?

Must have been the lighting conditions, the indoor lighting seems to show off more of the color shift, and a few more colors are showing up as well, like some blue and magenta (ooohh...aaahh...) See what I mean below:

Still haven't bought the rest of the Meet the Chromies set yet, but I have made several other really awesome purchases that I am very excited to share with you guys in the near future. I will be posting about them as they come in the mail, stay tuned for updates! :)

PSA: $5 Back at Sally Beauty with your American Express card

Found this little gem today in my American Express account online:

If you have an Amex card, log on to your online account, scroll down from the home page, and click the "Amex Offers For You" tab, your Sally's offer might be in there too!

I have heard that not everyone gets the same offers, so YMMV.  But it is totally worth checking it out once a week or so, I find new offers all the time, for example right now I have a JCPenney and Sprouts one, each for $10 back off of a purchase of $50 or more.

Who doesn't love free money? And even better if it can be free nail polish!

Garter Stockings with Bows Nail Art

Today's nails were inspired by this manicure by one of my favorite bloggers Very Emily.  Once I saw it I knew I had to recreate it myself because to me they look like pastel garter stockings held up by bows which is so darn CUTE! I also wanted to do something a bit more bright and summery than my recent nails.

I started off by freehanding the "stockings" using Sally Hansen Lacey Lilac, Color Club Flamingo, Morgan Taylor Fame Game and Nicole By OPI Selena Gomez Hit The Lights.  I then cleaned up the line with polish remover and a small brush.

Then I covered the line with gold striping tape, painted the whole nail with OPI Rent for some added shimmer, and freehanded the bows using L.A. Colors Art Deco in Black.  At this point I kept messing up, so I went back to Emily's post and when she said that she made 2 hearts to make the bow I was like "dur dur dur" and I then attempted to make hearts.  Let's just say the "hearts" you see here are much better than the "bows" I made beforehand, and I redid about 3 nails before I said screw it my bows are unique and good enough from a distance.  I actually quite liked the end result even though they were not completely symmetrical.

I then put a gold rhinestone in the middle of each bow and topped off with HK Girl top coat.  Lastly I practiced taking pictures of different hand positions and holding different things because it is still awkward for me to hold anything.  If you haven't noticed, I am left handed so most of my pictures are of my right hand, which is opposite of most bloggers.

Actually the real reason why is because my left hand had a nail break a while back and still isn't fully grown out, so I prefer the right hand in pics for now. I think I can do my left hand quite well actually! *pats self on back*

One of several yellow roses from one of my patients that I dried and saved.

The biggest of 5 Russian nesting dolls, a very thoughtful and beautiful gift from my awesome coworker!

My prized Kate Spade wallet in the most fabulous color ever! AND! It is even sweeter because I got it for 50% off at the Kate Spade outlet over Memorial Weekend. SCORE!

Comparison Swatches: Essie The Lace Is On, Nicole By Opi Pretty In Plum, CoverGirl Grapevine

After swatching Essie The Lace Is On a couple of posts ago and it becoming a new favorite of mine, I knew I had to compare it to my other beloved and similar polishes: Nicole By Opi Selena Gomez Pretty In Plum and CoverGirl Grapevine.  All swatches are 2 coats.

Flash

I was sure (at least in my head) that TLIO would have been closer in color to the others, but it looks like PIP and GV are the closest to being dupes.  TLIO is much more magenta than PIP and GV, with a bit more depth of pink and purple shimmer.  GV has a strong bluiesh purple shimmer, while PIP has the least shimmer of all.  But that doesn't make PIP any less interesting, its deeper base makes it have more of a vampy glassy glow than the others, which I definitely love!

The greatest difference is shown under fluorescent light, where GV leans blue, TLIO leans pink, and PIP is in the middle. But flash photography brings out the similarities in the polish which almost make them look the same.  Close, but no cigar...therefore it justifies having them all :)

Polish Me Silly Stardust Multichrome Glitter Top Coat

GUYS GUYS GUYS! This polish!!!! Look at it. JUST LOOK. It's magical. It's a galaxy on your nails without the work of creating galaxy nails.  Easily one of my favorite polishes of all time.  I painted only one (ONE!) coat over black and I just about peed my pants. Can you imagine what TWO coats would look like?!

Stardust is a teal to purple shifting glitter top coat with a healthy amount of holographic glitter, part of the Meet My Chromies collection. The last two pictures don't give this polish justice, but the first one really captures the sparkly essence. The collection has SIX toppers in it, and I am kicking myself for not buying them all at once! You can find Polish Me Silly on their Etsy page here, check out their stuff, it is seriously awesome!

Essie The Lace Is On

One of my absolute FAVORITE colors of nail polish is a reddish purple, especially in duochrome form. Essie The Lace Is On is a magenta-purple to burgundy duochrome shimmer that does not disappoint.  The Lace Is On is from the Fall 2013 collection.  I know I am late on this polish, and I don't know why I bought it sooner.  My eyes would be drawn to it every time I'd see it in a store, yet I would tell myself I shouldn't because I already have a similar color (or 2).  So when I saw it on Amazon for about 3 dollars I squealed a little and immediately bought it.  I just love it so much, and even though it is close to some of my other polishes it is still a must have.  I will have do a comparison before I take it off.

LOOK AT THAT SHIFT! Just stunning. Drool.

It's Helmer Time!

Filled with all my polishes, tools and accessories. Perfection.

It's Sunday and it's Helmer time! Let me just say I'm SO glad I picked the red one, it's gorgeous. It took me about an hour and a half to put it together and cut up the drawer liners to fit. It was actually kinda fun to assemble and I took pictures of it along the way.

The drawer liners are available in the kitchen area of Ikea.

Helmer!

These cute instructions made me laugh :)
