Polish Me Silly Meet My Chromies Multichrome Glitter Top Coat Collection

Polish Me Silly Meet My Chromies Multichrome Glitter Top Coat Collection

I am soooo late posting these...  I even have some swatches to that I will be even more late with! =S But there is some great news, I will be able to post more regularly because, drum roll please...

I BOUGHT A NEW LAPTOP TODAY! =DDDDD  Now I will regularly have an ultra fast laptop with all my photos and programs in one place instead of scattered between one really old laptop, a netbook that crashes every time I try to run Photoshop, and a good computer that is not mine (meaning I can't use it when I need to). YIPPEE!!!

Color Club Williamsburg and Sonia Kashuk Dime A Dozen Gradient

Color Club Williamsburg and Sonia Kashuk Dime A Dozen Gradient

Today I have nails I wore several weeks ago, a brush gradient using Color Club Williamsburg as the base and Sonia Kashuk Dime A Dozen as the top gradient.  I say several weeks ago because I still had beautiful sunlight for these shots, and now it is foggy and raining and I am failing with my new lightbox setup (boo).

I first painted 2 coats of Williamsburg, then used a fan brush turned parallel to my fingers, so that one end of the brush was pointing toward my knuckle and the other end towards the tip of my nail, and lightly brushed up and down until i got the coverage I liked. Having the brush perpendicular (how you would think to use the brush) did not work for the gradient.

I thought this was a fun and different look for fall, might even be better for winter. What do you guys think? Do you prefer brush or sponge gradients?

Lancome Vernis in Love 350M Rose Thé Swatches

Lancome Vernis in Love 350M Rose Thé Swatches

I love sales.  I mentioned that my favorite shopping day is Black Friday, which is where I picked up this beauty (as well as a handful of others) for only a few bucks.  It has been in my untried pile until I pulled out all my neutrals and muted colors for fall.

Lancome Vernis in Love 350M Rose Thé Swatches

This is Lancome Vernis in Love 350M Rose Thé, a super creamy brownish pink that applies smooooth like butter. If you like flat and wide brushes like I do, then you will love the Vernis in Love brushes. It is one of the best brushes I have ever used and it has a rounded tip which is perfect for the cuticle line. I used two thin coats and top coat for these pictures.

At first I thought this was another boring and flat pink creme, but on the nail it is so classy and appropriate for fall! Sometimes you just want to have simple nails, and doing them with an exceptional formula makes them even better.

This polish makes me feel cozy and ready for cooler weather...except I live in California and I can still tan in the sun right now lol.  Where's the chilly afternoons at, I want to put on my new winter boots and sweaters!

Do you own any Lancome Vernis in Love polishes? I would love to find some more on the upcoming Black Friday, only two weeks away!

Polish Me Silly Cosmic Kisses Multichrome Polish

Polish Me Silly Cosmic Kisses Multichrome Polish with Nail Vinyl Art

From the Meet My Chromies collection, Polish Me Silly Cosmic Kisses is a super-bendy-super-awesome-color-shifting-multichrome-holographic-sparkle polish. Phew, say that 10 times fast! Most noticeably on my nails it shifts from bright blue (in bright direct light) to purple to a rich pinkish burgundy. Shown is 2 coats plus topcoat, with KBShimmer Nail Vinyls and OPI Alpine Snow to make the designs.

Polish Me Silly Cosmic Kisses and Guilty Pleasure

As shown above, Cosmic Kisses is almost the same as Guilty Pleasure, except with added holographic sparkly goodness. I of course had to buy them both because they are almost the same and not the same.  (And everyone and their mother raved about both of them so I couldn't decide.) They are both from the Meet My Chromies collection.

This was part of my recent Polish Me Silly haul, and what I just absolutely love about the company (besides their excellent customer service and wonderful mother-daughter team) is that they offer mini bottles of all their polishes!  This is perfect for me for several reasons: a) mini things are much more cute and exciting than regular-sized things (think sliders and mini Butterfingers), b) they are cheaper (not by volume but by total price), and c) I can try out a lot more colors! What a smart business tactic for people like me.

And another reason why Polish Me Silly is awesome? They put MY nails on their website!  eeeeee I'm nail famous!!

Serum No. 5 FW14: Work Hard Play Hard Swatches

Continuing from my last post, this is the other Serum No. 5 FW14 polish I picked up: Work Hard Play Hard. It is SO unique, amazing, and perfect for fall that I had to snatch it right up!

Most noticeably suspended in a gorgeous pinky-brown crelly base are tons of small bright blue circle glitter and medium blue circle and hex glitter.  Then when you take a closer look, you will see that there is tiny gold and magenta glitter mixed in as well.  One of the most interesting and beautiful polishes I own, not to mention it is fabulous against my skin tone.

I was going to go sans top coat because I quite liked the textured feel and look, but I am an impatient one and it took way too long to dry so I slathered on 2 thick coats of top coat, which ended up not doing much to this top coat eater.  The two coats of polish I used came out a tad sheer, so next time I will do 3 coats of polish with top coat sandwiched in between each layer to help smooth it out.

So far I am in love with Serum No. 5, do you own any of their polishes?

Serum No. 5 FW14: Light Speed Glow in the Dark Polish with Skull and Crossbones

Happy Belated Halloween! If you follow my Instagram you would have seen these nails on actual Halloween, so don't judge me.  I blame it on the fact that I need a new computer.  Once Black Friday comes (which btw is my FAVORITE shopping day of the year) I am gonna get me a shiny new laptop w00t!

Light Speed is my very first polish from the FW14 collection of Serum No. 5 , bought during my llarowe haul, and I have to say I am in love with it!  I mean, how could you not be?! It is green shimmer in some light, teal shimmer in another, purple shimmer at a (very) deep angle, and it glows in the dark! Win win win.  I used 4 thin coats for these swatches because I wanted it to be completely opaque, but you can also do 1-2 coats over black polish.

I then freehanded the skull and crossbones using L.A.Colors Art Deco in White.  I used the actual striper brush that comes in the bottle for the shafts of the bones, a dotting tool to make the heads of the bones, and a small detailing brush to make the skull.  I am SO proud of myself that these turned out so well, maybe I am finally getting better at freehanding nail art!

I did find it hard to capture the glow but after a bajillion tries I grabbed a decent shot.  What is weird is that I could hardly see the glow when I was at work holding my fingers under bright fluorescent lights, but in the dark in my bed they were totally glowing (even though I had the lights out for a good while)...creepy...
