Review of Essie Sleek Stick Nail Appliques in Stickers and Stones

I accidentally came across these Essie Sleek Stick Nail Appliques while perusing my local Dollar Tree for non-polish things and my loud gasp probably startled everyone in the store. I couldn't believe there were so many different ones, I must have spent about 20 minutes digging through the display to make sure I got every single one lol.  In total I got 16 for one dolla each (!!!) and I excitedly left the store with a big smile on my face.

So after buying these I had a thought that there must be a reason that they are at the dollar store. Don't get me wrong, I buy and love many things at the dollar store but obviously if they are selling well they wouldn't end up there.  After first trying Stickers and Stones I realized that my thinking was correct.  I do like these but there are several way they could be improved.

Pros: Easy nail art, quick application, beautiful designs, easy to remove, stays on relatively well

Cons:

1. Sizes too small.  Although there are 18 total stickers (9 per hand), they did not all fit my wider nail beds.  Not a big deal, I did an accent nail using Essie Set in Stones.

2. Cannot add top coat.  I was definitely planning on it but when I started on my thumb the applique shriveled up like a raisin and was ruined.  I ended up putting polish on my thumbs instead.

3. Tip wear.  Since I couldn't top coat nor wrap the applique around the tips, the tips showed wear in a couple days.

4. Damaged my nails on removal. Some appliques are made of real polish, which can be cleaned up and removed with polish remover, but these are actual stickers.  It was nice that these stuck on pretty well and were pretty easy to peel off, but they also lifted a few layers of my natural nail which is NOT COOL.

I do like how quick and easy these are, and I would like to use them again but will probably try with a base coat or two underneath and see if that works. Have you tried any full nail decals that work well for you?
