Born Pretty Store French Tip Water Decals Review

Born Pretty Store French Tip Water Decals Review

Today I am wearing these beautiful french tip water decals from Born Pretty Store, on top of Revlon Colorstay 070 Wild Strawberry, a bright and rich magenta with a pearl finish and a slight purple flash. I received these for review along with red triangle glitters and a floral stamping plate.  The package, as shown below, comes with one sheet of 14 decals of various sizes.  I like how there are extras in case you mess up or need to use different sizes for your nails.  If you decide to use these just for accent nails, you will have plenty left over for many future manicures.

There are directions written on the back, and even though it is in slightly broken English, it is pretty easy to understand thanks to the added pictures.  I thought it was cute that it says "use warm water in winter" and to "blowdry" your nails showing a picture of a hairdryer, although both those steps are unnecessary in my opinion.

From looking at the decals I was worried that my nails were too long for them, but when I put them on they were actually a perfect fit!  I do have bigger nails so I do wish that there were more larger decals. I used the biggest decals on my thumb, pointer, middle, and ring finger, and a smaller one on my pinkie, which was a little too short.  The widths were more than good enough, which I was really glad about.  I have had issues in the past with other products not being wide enough, but no problems here.

I found application to be somewhat tricky.  I was thinking to file the edges off the decal after placing them (as you would with full nail appliques) but since these weren't really "sticky" and were only clinging on with water, that was a near impossible task.  I ended up using cuticle nippers to trim the edges while they were on.  This proved to be the most difficult part because they would slide out of place while trimming and I would have to reposition them a lot, but I did eventually trim them all successfully.

I also found, as I found with the red triangle glitter, that my HK Girl top coat would start to eat the decals, but this only happened around the trimmed edges and ended up being hardly noticeable.  Is HK Girl top coat extra corrosive or something?  WHATEVER it's still my fave top coat eva.

You can see a teensy tiny bit of the clear edge of the decal, and also a white line where it looks like the decals were printed slightly misaligned, as shown on my middle finger below.  But in real life they are totally not noticeable.

Overall, I really like these decals for nail art! They are completely opaque, vibrant, and intricately designed (and BTW in the macro above you might have noticed that the image looks pixelated but in no way is that visible by the naked eye in real life, so not to worry.)  It does take a bit of work and patience to trim them, but the end result is so worth it.
